Admissions
International School Haarlem offers primary and secondary education in an English-speaking environment. The school welcomes applications from students from all over the world who can demonstrate a need for international education.
We understand that choosing the right school for your child(ren) is one of the most important decisions your family will make. Our Admissions Team is here to support you every step of the way, answering your questions and helping to make the application process as smooth as possible. We advise early applications, also for future academic years.
Requirements for admission to a DIS (Dutch International School)
DIS are acknowledged and funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.
As a Dutch International School (DIS) which is subsidised by the Dutch Government, our application process is subject to conditions set in Dutch legislation.
A student will be admitted to an international department if they comply with at least one of the following conditions:
The student has a non-Dutch nationality (or: also a non-Dutch nationality) and has a parent who is working in The Netherlands (or in a Dutch border region) for a limited time |
| The student has a Dutch nationality and has attended an international school abroad for at least two years because a parent was stationed abroad. The parents would like their child(ren) to continue international education after arriving in The Netherlands. |
| The student has a Dutch nationality and a parent (with whom the student will be living) who will be stationed abroad within two years of admission for at least two years. This must be confirmed in writing by the parent’s employer. |
Admissions process
Once an application is completed through Open Apply, we aim to respond within 10 working days (excluding holidays) to confirm if your child is eligible for admission to our school and if we can place them on the requested start date.

School visits
We encourage and welcome you to visit our school. Visits can be arranged by appointment through Open Apply. Kindly note that we are unable to confirm availability or book appointments by phone.
We ask parents of prospective students to send us the completed pre-application form through Open Apply, our admission platform. Completing the pre-application form and uploading prior school reports is required before requesting a school visit.
We advise requests are made at least 2- 3 weeks in advance. Children are welcome and encouraged to join visits.
School visits can be arranged during term times only on:
- Mondays: 9 am-1 pm (Lower Primary Group 1-3)
- Tuesdays: 9 am-11 am (Primary and MYP1-5)
- Thursdays: 9 am-11 am (Primary and MYP 1-5)
- Fridays: 12.20 pm -1.20 pm (CP1/DP1 only)
Please view this link for an overview of the holidays and study days. Our school will be closed then and visits will not be possible.
For the current academic year, we have limited availability in our Primary department. There are few spaces in MYP 1 and MYP3 in our Secondary department.
