Reading at ISH Libraries

At all of our ISH Libraries, we aim to ensure that students have access to age-appropriate informative, challenging and entertaining materials that will help them grow to be lifelong learners and readers.

Our Libraries have fiction and non-fiction sections, and magazines for our students to enjoy. To celebrate our international community our book selection includes languages that represent our student population.

Check out our catalogue here to see what we have available in our primary and secondary locations!

Literacy development

As well as free readers, the Primary students follow the Oxford Reading Tree system to encourage literacy development throughout their school journey. Our Phonics group uses the library as their space to support language development.

Our collection is developed with the accessibility needs of all students in mind.

Learning hub

Our libraries serve as a learning hub. Here are some examples of what you can access in our ISH Secondary Library:

  • Magazines - current affairs, science, history, art
  • Online resources - Scientific articles, encyclopedias and subject support
  • IT Equipment - students can use a printer, borrow iPads, cameras, headphones, chromebooks and other related IT equipment to ensure they can complete their school work or creative projects at school
  • Help with research and referencing - the library staff are there to guide students in how to find relevant sources and how to give appropriate credit for where they have used the work of others

A safe space - a space to work, collaborate or chill out in a bean bag!
